Pre-Inspections Are Critical
Before installation begins, our professional roof consultants will do a complete inspection of your home's interior, exterior and attic space. Your family’s safety is the most important issue to us and as you read further you will learn why these inspections are critical in that regard.
Illegally Run Electrical Lines
Electrical wires strung up and over the rafters are fire hazards. Fasteners penetrating the wire insulation can cause a short circuit resulting in a fire. Vaulted ceilings with canned lights and HVAC power lines are the most common problem areas. Our professional consultants will discuss this important issue further.
Carbon Monoxide Poison
During the installation process the crews will need to flash the gas exhaust pipes. Even the slightest disturbance on the roof can dislodge the elbows and fittings of exhaust vents in your attic or closet area without the crews’ knowledge. This can cause a deadly carbon monoxide leak. Our consultants will discuss this potentially deadly situation.
Children & Pet Safety
Roofing your home creates a temporary construction site that children find absolutely intriguing. Because many of the materials and equipment are can be very dangerous, even deadly, it is important to remind children of the hazards.
Please Consider Safety
Especially for children!
Children and pets need our help in watching out for them!
Pool & Spa Protection
Pools and spas can be damaged by debris. Nails can stain the plaster or damage the vacuum equipment. For your protection, our quality crews will tarp the pool and spa. We do, however, recommend that pool pumps be turned off during installation and that a pool cleaning be scheduled after your new roof is installed.
PLEASE! Keeping your family members away from the tarped pool is imperative.
Vibration & Preparation
Loose or breakable items should be removed from the walls and shelves to protect them from damage. The vibration can cause dust to fall through light fixtures, to fall from A/C vents, and other ceiling penetrations. You may want to turn you A/C fan to the ‘on’ position and/or turn on additional air filtration units if available, especially if allergies are a special concern.
Noise Pollution
Construction can be very noisy. Be mentally prepared for the sound of constant hammering, sawing, and foot traffic for two or more days, depending on the size of your roof. We appreciate your understanding
Landscaping Issues
Please help us by turning off automatic sprinkler systems a few days before the installation begins to protect your lawn against foot traffic. Also, it is extremely wise to mow your lawn the day before installation begins. This allows for a much more thorough clean up less grass for nails to tangle into. We’ll tarp garden beds to help minimize damage.
Tree Trimming
Trees can be a major cause of the premature wearing of a roof. Besides damaging shingles, leaf debris building up in the valley areas can cause shingles to deteriorate and promote algae growth. If your trees need to be trimmed in order to keep limbs off the roof, please do so before the project begins.
Skylight and Privacy
Skylights must be removed in order to properly reflash them. When the domes are removed, occasionally the tape and bedding stuck to the inside of the skylight frame cracks and peels slightly. This is unavoidable especially in the case of bathroom and kitchen skylights. Additionally, if your home has bathroom skylights, please remember to schedule bathing times appropriately.
Attic Preparation & Clean Up
Items stored in your attic are subject to dust and debris during the removal of an existing roof. This is of particular concern when decking is going to be applied over space decking. It is important to remember to be careful when opening the attic hatch during and after the project.
Electrical Issues
Occasionally, the power tools used to install your new roof may trip circuit breakers. If circuit breakers are tripped a potentially dangerous situation may occur, if vital medical equipment is being used. Please make sure precautionary steps are taken to prevent such dangers. Also, you may have to adjust a clock or two if breakers are tripped.
Accidents Do Happen
Roofing is major construction and some accidents do occur; however, a quality conscious contractor should know how to prevent most of these incidents. Therefore, we cover A/C units and landscaping as needed, we move lawn furniture and do our best to be consistently professional and courteous at all times.
Learn Your Choices Before…
There are many choices available. Most contractors offer very few options and upgrade products. Upgrade products do cost more to install and they take time and product knowledge to present adequately. Isn’t it disappointing to have a project completed only to find out then that there were other really nice features that you could have gotten - but were not told about?
Access To Your Home
For their protection, we ask that you keep cars, boats, and trailers away from the area and out of the driveway during installation. Additionally, we will need access to all areas of your yard for cleanup. Please remove pets from your backyard and have all gates unlocked for this purpose.
